Arthroscopic Knee and Cartilage Surgery
Most arthroscopic knee operations are done to trim out a torn cartilage, smooth off worn joint surfaces or remove loose bodies. Most procedures take less than 15-20 minutes and require a general anaesthetic.
The hospital stay is usually about 3-4 hours and a full recovery from the effects of the surgery takes 10-14 days. It is recommended that you have 2-3 quiet days after operation by which time you will be back driving.
Non physical work can be resumed then, but you may take 7-10 days to get back to work if you have a physical job. You will need to come in for a further office visit at 7-10 days after operation.
